Spring Tour of Germany

The four week trip to Darmstadt, Frankfurt and Munich was very successful with a wide variety of shows and workshops in both English and German. This year the shows varied with ones in Kindergartens, Primary Schools and Libraries "auf Deutsch" plus others in Secondary Schools and Libraries in English. Also this year a new storytelling show of English stories for adults - "Tea with Mustard"! - a mix of shortbread biscuits, songs, stories and a pot of tea! Plus, during the tour, a memorable day off climbing in deep, deep snow up the 'Laber' - a 1683 metre high mountain near Oberammergau. Wonderful climb and views resulting in an exhilarated but exhausted Major Mustard!

Cinderella

The new version of "Cinderella" was very well received during its Christmas Tour. The weeks spent by the Fairy Godmother rehearsing and perfecting her magic were well worth it as her "transformations" had to be seen to be believed! Also well worth seeing is the wonderful new set designed by John Crane with its amazing scene changes. Do try and see Cinderella this year!" A show not to be missed.

Christmas Tour

Final rehearsals are now well underway for the new "Cinderella" show which is one of the main attractions of this year's Christmas Tour. There are still a few dates available in the early part of December - if you'd like a Christmas-time performance from Major Mustard - get in touch!

Here it is! The web site is now refreshed and up and running. My thanks to Steve Pitchford for all his excellent work in designing and relaunching the Major Mustard website. Keep an eye on it for up and coming Major Mustard news.

Summer Update

A busy summer and autumn lies ahead with a lot of work being done on producing the new version of Cinderella (ready for the Christmas tour) and also on redesigning the website. This website work is a big project and I hope everyone likes the results ( do email me any thoughts or suggestions).

I shall be mostly touring around the Midlands this summer and amongst the shows open to the public are performances in Corby, Ilmington, Shrewsbury and Bromsgrove. So do contact me if you would like exact details of time and venue etc and hopefully I may see some of you then.

For some years Major Mustard has had two email addresses - the current one, which is still the one to use
< mm@majormustard.com > and the old one which is quoted in the last brochure. That one, which was < .... brum.com > , is now defunct. If you use the "brum.com" email address please can you delete it and update your contact list with the current

New Project! Cinderella with cgi puppets! (ie. cool, gloved, impressive!)

This summer I'm working again with artist and puppetmaker extraordinaire, John Crane, to present a brand new version of the old favourite "Cinderella". We hope this will be ready for the coming Christmas season. This new version will have magical effects from the Fairy Godmother, a Prince who is charming (in his own mind!), fabulous frogs (?!?) and a twist at the end of the story. Look out for it this December - coming to a palace near you!

Avoncroft Museum

If you fancy getting "medieval" come along to Avoncroft on the weekend of 25th 26th July and see my shows of "Robin Hood" and "King Arthur". Avoncroft Museum is holding a "Robin Hood and King Arthur Training Camp" weekend with archery, a catapult range, dragons and knights in armour. All that and of course, "Major Mustard". Hope to see you there.

Heading for Yorkshire

I'm heading for the Kirklees area in early July to do a tour of Primary schools with a mixture of workshops and performances. These will be for schools audiences only. However, if you are in the South Yorkshire area and would like to see a Major Mustard show, I'm performing at Rotherham Arts Centre on Saturday 10th October with "Can You Keep A Secret?". Don't keep that a secret but come along to see the show. Further details in the Diary.

Easter in Scotland

This Easter I was up in Scotland as part of the "Puppet Animation Festival". This month long festival was held in a variety of venues all over Scotland involving some of Europe's top puppet companies. It was a most enjoyable tour starting in Islay and moving on to Rothesay, Glasgow and finishing up in North Edinburgh.

Germany Tour

Once again I've been in Germany.Two weeks in Hessen (Frankfurt & Darmstadt) and then two weeks in Bavaria (in and around Munich). Most of the shows in Hessen were in English for German pupils as part of their English studies - either with teenagers helping expand their vocabulary and understanding of English, or with "Grundschule" (Junior age) pupils, hopefully showing them that learning English can be fun through song, stories and puppets. In Bavaria I did quite a few of the English shows but also many shows "Auf Deutsch" for Kindergartens, as well as public "Family Shows" in libraries and small Arts Centres. This year "Haesliche Entlein" (The Ugly Duckling) and "Loewenzahnstrasse 7" (No 7 Dandelion Street) were performed and very well received. Hopefully back to Germany again next Spring.
